Stacy’s
This was an idea that won a pitch. I like this project because of the way we flipped the strategy to find the solution.
Only 2% of women entrepreneurs get VC funding in the U.S, so Stacy’s wanted to raise awareness about it.
Every time we kept coming up with ideas to try and persuade the people holding the money, we kept encountering the same issue. They are clearly the problem. So we flipped the script and decided that instead of asking for Venture Capital, why not let the public invest in them instead.
We wrapped it all up under the idea of #girlcott day (literally boycotting the word boycott).
I read somewhere once how money is like a vote and every time you use it to buy something you are essentially voting for it to remain in place. This is how this idea unfolds, by literally showing people businesses that are female owned, people can now ‘vote’ to keep them in place.
I spent some time trying to find a way to boycott the word boycott with the word girlcott. Using typography, I managed to find a simple way to get the idea to land visually and conceptually too.
